Wrong cabling in the Building 8 extension — not Cat5e; rip out and reinstall

The contractor cabling the new Building 8 extension bay ran the wrong stuff — a mix of old Cat3 voice cable and unshielded offcuts — where the instrumentation and control runs must be Cat5e (shielded, given what's next door). It will not pass certification and cannot carry the harness traffic reliably. It all has to come out and be reinstalled properly.

Opened the bay expecting Cat5e and found Cat3 and mystery offcuts. Whoever quoted this cut a corner. It won't certify and I'm not running the SICORE II harness over it.

So the intermittent link errors on that bay are basically a physical-layer DN— no. Just cable. Fair enough.

Ripped the lot out, re-pulled in shielded Cat5e, re-terminated, Fluke-tested every run, all pass. Contractor re-did it at their own cost after a firm word. Closing.
