by Maureen » Mon Dec 10, 2007 9:35 am Thank you to everyone who came to the Building 1 Christmas quiz on Friday. Final scores: The Usual Suspects (Chelmsford) 41, Percival Marine 41, TracComm 38, Building 8 "Cell Block H" 12 (they left after the picture round).
The tie-break was: How long is Southend Pier? The answer on the card is 1.34 miles. The Usual Suspects wrote 1.5. Percival Marine wrote 1.165, which they say is nautical miles and exactly right.
Percival Marine have lodged an appeal. The committee (me) will rule on Friday. Representations to reception please, in writing, and NOT on the back of the quiz sheets.

Speaking as a member of The Usual Suspects, I think you have to give it to them. It is exactly right. I checked.
I'm not going to ask why they know the length of Southend Pier in nautical miles off the top of their heads. Nobody asks what Percival Marine do on the second floor and I'm not starting at Christmas.

For the record, Cell Block H did not "leave after the picture round". We were recalled to Building 8 for a docket. It's in the docket.
